Trinity is honoured to have Mardi Tindal, the 40th Moderator of the United Church of Canada as the guest preacher on Sunday June 7 for the annual A.O.T.S. worship service. Mardi is also the daughter of Margaret Tyndall, who some will remember as a faithful member of Trinity.
Mardi served as Moderator from 2009-2012. During her term Mardi was asked to speak to the first meeting of the all-party climate change caucus on Parliament Hill, October 2011. Mardi’s focus is on the inter-related healing of soul, community and creation. As a result, Mardi has served as national mentor to Faithful Footprints, the program by which the United Church is working toward an 80% reduction of the church's carbon emissions by 2030.
Mardi's other responsibilities have included the following:
Director of Camp Big Canoe,
Executive Director of the Five Oaks Centre,
Co-host and story producer for Spirit Connection, the United Church’s weekly program on Vision TV.
Now retired, Mardi continues to serve as a facilitator with the Center for Courage & Renewal, and with Brooksong Retreat and Cancer Support Centre.
Her board service has included Broadview magazine.
Mardi trained as an adult educator and facilitator. She has an M.A. degree from the University of Toronto.
Mardi and her spouse Doug live in Haliburton ON and are active members of Highland Hills United Church.
We look forward to having Mardi join us this Sunday. We hope to see everyone there.
