Worship Moments March 17

Top of the morning to you.

Yes, this is St Patrick’s Day.

St Patrick is known to have brought Christianity to Ireland in the fifth century and legend has it that he drove the snakes out of Ireland.

St Patrick used the shamrock to teach about the trinity.

The 3 leaves in the shamrock and one stock pointed to the image of the three in one God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Creator Christ and Spirit, Creator, Redeemer, Sustainer.

Let us take this time to pray to God who is Holy Mystery and Wholly Love and to pray the words of St. Patrick.

I arise today Through the strength of heaven; Light of the sun, Splendor of fire, Speed of lightning, Swiftness of the wind, Depth of the sea, Stability of the earth, Firmness of the rock.

I arise today Through God’s strength to pilot me; God’s might to uphold me, God’s wisdom to guide me, God’s eye to look before me, God’s ear to hear me, God’s word to speak for me, God’s hand to guard me, God’s way to lie before me, God’s shield to protect me, God’s hosts to save me Afar and anear, Alone or in a multitude.

Christ shield me today Against wounding

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ on my right, Christ on my left, Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ in the heart of everyone who thinks of me, Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me, Christ in the eye that sees me, Christ in the ear that hears me.

I arise today Through the mighty strength Of the Lord of creation.

Come, Thou Fount of every blessing Tune my heart to sing Thy grace Streams of mercy, never ceasing Call for songs of loudest praise Teach me some melodious sonnet Sung by flaming tongues above Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it Mount of Thy redeeming love

Here I raise my Ebenezer Here there by Thy great help I've come And I hope, by Thy good pleasure Safely to arrive at home Jesus sought me when a stranger Wandering from the fold of God He, to rescue me from danger Interposed His precious blood

Oh, that day when freed from sinning I shall see Thy lovely face Clothed then in the blood washed linen How I'll sing Thy wondrous grace Come, my Lord, no longer tarry Take my ransomed soul away Send Thine angels now to carry Me to realms of endless…
