Dear Trinity Friends,
Earlier this week, the Premier of Ontario announced that beginning June 12th, places of worship would be allowed to open their doors to 30% capacity. The Leadership Team met via Zoom to talk about what this means for Trinity and concluded that, frankly, we're just not ready to resume in-church worship safely. A 'reopening plan' is being developed, focusing on what needs to be put in place to enable us to re-assemble with caution and confidence. We need to be thoughtful in considering: what will worship look like, how we can welcome each other and the community, and how we can begin to gather where the spread of COVID-19 remains a concern, especially for our most vulnerable and most susceptible.
When will we reopen? Likely not before Labour Day. This may be a disappointment for some and a relief for others. Part of developing the reopening plan is appreciating that everyone's personal situation is different and complex. The well-being of all is paramount. We'll listen to the advice from our federal, provincial and local government leaders, the public health networks, the United Church of Canada, and use our own best judgement and prayerfulness to do what's right. As we know, this situation is unprecedented so there's no single, surefire guideline for how to proceed. In the meantime, we'll continue to offer online worship and opportunities to meet through Zoom.
We'll listen to you, too. We invite your questions, ideas and thoughts as we navigateour way to the next phase together. Please feel free to contact Rev. Linda Wheler. We'll also commit to communicating reopening plans with you through all channels available to us - email, Trinity website, online worship services & 'worship moments', Canada Post, and telephone.
Blessings, Rev. Linda
