March 18, 2020 Dear Friends;
Last evening, the Leadership Team met via Zoom. Each person in their own home and all of us connected by the computer. It was the first time we met in this format and it will not be the last, in the weeks to come the Leadership Team will continue to meet in this way. Our Team made the decision to close Trinity to the public effective immediately. Although the building is closed, we are still a Church. The current situation regarding the Covid-19 virus is being monitored continuously, and alternative means of staying connected with each other shall be maintained, such as our website Worship Moments at https://www.trinityuc.ca/. Ideas for creative group worship from a distance are gratefully being accepted. This is a good time to try out other ways of connecting using the amazing electronic tools we have these days. We thank our skilled volunteers who are helping with communication strategies to keep us all connected.
For Pastoral Care please call Rev. Linda at the church office at (905) 895-4851 or by email at email@example.com. Jackie is managing our office remotely. You may reach her by telephone or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. The staff are continuing to work together and reaching out to the congregation using all available resources. Trinity United Church has postponed Sunday in-person worship, LAMP, and all other programs until further notice. The organizations who rent space at Trinity have postponed or made alternate arrangements for their meetings and business activity for the time being. Staying connected maybe easier than you thought. Have you signed up yet for our website members’ access? Check out how we can chat using our website members’ Forum page. While the building is not being used to its fullest potential at this time, Trinity will continue to need financial contributions to meet its obligations. Your givings will continue to be used as instructed by you and alternative methods from the Sunday basket are available. Offerings may be made in a variety of ways, which include;
Calling the office to set up Pre-Authorized Remittance (PAR) debited regularly and directly from your bank account;
Using the online donation platform for Trinity United Church at https:// www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/108141557RR0001-trinity-united-church/
Pick up by one of our Leadership Team (and some conversation over a tea if all are well and able);
- E-transfer facilitated by our Treasurer with the details to be arranged through the office. The following is the updated procedures for Trinity United Church at this time of caution. Trinity on Main COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Procedure as of March 18, 2020: We continue to closely monitor the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and, follow advice from Health Canada and the United Church of Canada. We are taking appropriate steps to ensure we keep the congregation, staff team, and event attendees are as safe as possible. This is a quickly changing environment and we need to look out for one another.
General precautions now in place These are some of the steps being taken to help prevent the spread of infection:
Services and Events • The church is closed for public use. • Sunday Worship is suspended until further notice, as is all programming including LAMP. • The AGM scheduled for March 22, 2020 is postponed, reschedule date TBD. • The Leadership Team is meeting remotely using teleconferencing and all Trinity groups are encouraged to use similar methods of meeting when possible. If church planning is continuing within your team or committee and you need assistance with alternative means of connecting, please contact Rev. Linda or Rosa for assistance. • We are asking all who feel unwell to please stay home and care for yourself. There is someone else who can serve in your place while you are recovering, please do not hesitate to reach out and communicate your needs. Please take the appropriate action to receive a medical consultation to take care of yourself, and please do not attend at the church for any reason. Consider calling the church office with your inquiry instead. • To help prevent the spread of infection, please follow general best practice as outlined by Health Canada.
Travel advice • If you have recently returned from abroad including the United States, or are planning travel, please ensure that you are following all Health Canada advice. • Please DO NOT ATTEND CHURCH if you are sick or in a period of self, or mandated isolation. Please note, we will continue to inform you via email, the church website (trinityuc.ca), a call to our list of phone-tree recipients, and Facebook as the situation changes. In the meantime, we look forward to staying in touch via electronic means of communication or by picking up the phone!
