As we reflect on church and how we are the church during these ever changing times, I share this message from the United Church Moderator; The Reverend Doctor Richard Bott.
It's important to remember: church doesn't close. Ever. We may need to temporarily stop our face-to-face, full-on-peace-passing, communion-by-intinction, and offering-of-the-plates, but the church - the body of Christ - is a 24/7/365 reality. It's lived, around the world, and in our homes; it acts, when our hearts reach out; it keeps going, wherever there is one disciple of Jesus, or two, or three - living the Way we've been taught. And, with Paul, I'd like to remind you there is nothing - there is NOTHING - not a single thing - not in the sky above, or the earth below, not powers, nor principalities, not things seen, or unseen - nothing in all creation that can separate that creation from God's love in Christ. We are the church. Always. And all ways.
I invite you to reflect on: What is church and what does Trinity mean to you?
God of Grace
Continue to empower us to be the Church, Your church, the hands and feet of Christ. We think of those in our community who seek your healing presence
We pray for those who are feeling isolated and alone.
We offer the prayers of our hearts..
Remind us again O God, that nothing separates us from your love and that we are never alone.
The Church’s One Foundation V.U. 332
The church's one Foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord; she is His new creation, by water and the Word; from heav'n He came and sought her to be His holy bride; with His own blood He bought her, and for her life He died.
2 Elect from ev'ry nation, yet one o'er all the earth, her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth; one holy Name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with ev'ry grace endued.
3 Tho' with a scornful wonder, men see her sore oppressed, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed, yet saints their watch are keeping, their cry goes up, "How long?" And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song.
4 The church shall never perish! Her dear Lord, to defend, to guide, sustain, and cherish, is with her to the end; tho' there be those that hate her and false sons in her pale, against the foe or traitor she ever shall prevail.
